Strong northerly and northwesterly winds on the Caspian are expected to continue through November 9. Azerbaijan’s vessel traffic management centre has warned mariners of deteriorating conditions.

Forecast winds reach 18-23 metres per second, locally 25-30 and up to 32 offshore. Waves could rise from 2.5-3.5 metres to 4-6 metres.

For cargo owners, the relevant information is the status of their specific sailing. A weather warning does not mean every port has closed: departure times and schedule changes need confirmation from the carrier. Delivery planning should allow for the possibility of waiting for a suitable weather window.
