Baku Metro plans to acquire about 300 new carriages for the Purple Line by 2030. This was announced by Namig Yusubov, chief engineer of Baku Metro, while answering journalists' questions during a media tour organized on the occasion of the completion of the second stage of the Darnagul Electric Depot and the acceptance of the first train.
According to him, the purchase of new trains will not be limited to the Purple Line: "Currently, Baku Metro has 71 train sets. The Purple Line operates old trains. By 2030, the purchase of about 300 carriages is planned for this line. After the completion of infrastructure projects aimed at reducing train intervals on the Red and Green Lines, the acquisition of additional trains for these lines is also planned."
Yusubov noted that the construction of a dead-end track at the 'Icherisheher' station on the Red Line will allow intervals to be reduced. On the Green Line, after the construction of stations Y-14 and Y-15 and the creation of a turnaround chamber, it will become possible to organize train movement with shorter intervals.
