On 17 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA, Jasurbek Choriev.

As FinFly.News was told by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the meeting discussed the current state and prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and TRACECA, as well as issues of expanding transport and communication links in the region.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to cooperation within TRACECA and plays an active role in developing transport links between Europe and Asia. In this context, it was noted that Azerbaijan's advantageous geographical location, modern transport infrastructure and transit potential make an important contribution to efficient and sustainable development.

Information was provided on the work carried out on Azerbaijan's initiative and through its efforts to develop transport infrastructure, expand the capacity of the Baku International Sea Trade Port, and improve rail and road transport links.

The importance was emphasised of further increasing the potential of the Middle Corridor, boosting freight volumes along the route, simplifying and digitalising transit procedures, and strengthening coordination among the participating countries.

The sides also exchanged views on opportunities for developing regional transport links and on other issues of mutual interest.
