Azerbaijan saw an increase in air traffic volume during the summer season of 2026.
According to information released by Heydar Aliyev International Airport, in June–August, the air navigation provider "Azeraeronavigation" (AZANS) performed air navigation services for a total of 102,130 flights. This figure represents an 11% increase compared to the same period last year.
Air traffic volume increased consistently over the summer months. In June, AZANS provided air navigation services for 32,430 flights, in July for 34,322, and in August for 35,378 flights. Thus, August recorded the highest air traffic volume of the summer season.
Even higher growth was recorded in the number of transit flights. In June–August, 78,749 transit flights were conducted through Azerbaijan's airspace. This figure increased by 14.5% compared to the same period last year.
The highest daily air traffic figure of the summer season was recorded on August 23. On that day, air navigation services were provided for 1,210 flights in Azerbaijan's airspace.
The peak seasonal figure for transit flights was recorded on August 22. On that single day, 920 transit flights were conducted through Azerbaijan's airspace. This figure exceeds the maximum level recorded in the summer season of 2025 by 13.4%.
