AvtoVAZ plans to produce several thousand production Lada Azimut crossovers by the end of 2026. The company's press service told Izvestia on August 26, refuting data that appeared online.
"According to the production plan, by the end of 2026, JSC AvtoVAZ will produce several thousand production Lada Azimut, and the 2027 production plan already includes several tens of thousands of Azimut. We confirm plans to start production of the car in September of this year," the company stated.
The press service clarified that the production plan for Lada Azimut for 2027 is 20,000 vehicles.
AvtoVAZ also noted that regarding fake news, the company intends to take necessary legal actions within the framework of current legislation.
On the same day, the Telegram channel "Avtopotok" reported, citing its source at the plant, that according to the official production plan of AvtoVAZ, which includes the Azimut model, one production car is planned for November and December, and the start of mass production has been postponed to 2027.
Lada Azimut is the brand's first crossover. As previously reported by the state corporation Rostec, AvtoVAZ is ready to produce up to 70,000 Azimut crossovers per year.
