Russia’s escrow-backed individual housing reaches 5 million sq m

Individual housing projects using escrow accounts in Russia reached 5 million square metres by 1 October 2026, Interfax reported on 28 October, citing DOM.RF.

Around 47,000 contracts have been signed since 1 March 2025. Some 25,600 homes were completed and another 21,300 were under construction. Of the ongoing projects, 7,700 homes are planned for completion by end-2026.

The 5 million sq m figure therefore describes the combined project pipeline, not completed housing alone. Separating finished and ongoing work is essential when assessing how much contracted construction has already become usable homes.
