The richest man on the planet, 55-year-old Elon Musk, and 41-year-old OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have backed American AI researcher and Anthropic founder Dario Amodei in his concerns about the development of artificial intelligence.
Amodei published an essay on the need to slow the development of artificial intelligence, in which he says, among other things: "With careful use, AI could become the latest in a series of technological miracles that have elevated and ennobled humanity. However, like many technologies of the past, AI carries risks, and given its enormous power, these risks are very serious. I have also written extensively about them. Such risks include loss of control over AI systems, their use for malicious purposes (for example, for cyberattacks or bioterrorism), as well as serious economic shocks."
After the essay was published, Musk wrote on his X: "Dario is right. I have long been sounding the alarm about artificial intelligence." Altman also supported the researcher: "I agree with Dario that we need to regulate the pace of development of advanced technologies. In recent weeks, this has become one of the main topics of discussion at OpenAI."
