The open-source llm-d project has released version 1.0 for distributed language-model inference. The release targets production workloads on Kubernetes, according to the October 20 announcement.

It helps distribute inference work across servers. Production capabilities include multi-tenant operation, request prioritisation and infrastructure upgrades without service downtime.

This is infrastructure for operating models rather than a new language model. For businesses, its practical value depends on how many requests a deployment can handle within its cost and latency requirements.
