A single payment for a journey with transfers, a live map showing alternative routes and a tool for locating new cycle lanes were among the winning ideas at Baku’s TransportTech hackathon. Azerbaijan’s Land Transport Agency, AYNA, published details on November 3. The event itself took place on October 17 and 18.
Yoldash proposed planning and paying for several modes of transport in one app. YOLÇU combined alternative routes with a way to collect passenger feedback. SmartFlow linked walking and cycling legs with metro and bus trips, with a separate dashboard to help planners choose locations for interchange hubs and cycle lanes.
Fifteen teams reached the final from 510 applicants. They used open data on bus routes, cycle infrastructure and terminals. The jury named three winners without ranking them. These are prototypes; the organisers did not announce a new fare or ticketing system for passengers.
