Azerbaijan's Ministry of Science and Education and OpenAI have signed a three-year memorandum to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in education.
The document was signed by Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev and OpenAI's Vice President of Education Leah Belsky in New York.
The goal of the cooperation is to use AI to improve teaching and learning opportunities for teachers and schoolchildren, make the educational process more effective and accessible, and shape approaches to the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence in educational institutions.
The memorandum provides for the development of AI-based educational tools, training teachers to work with new technologies, and preparing standards and methodological approaches for the safe use of AI in schools. A separate area is the development of an education management system for mathematics, science and reading using OpenAI technologies. AI will help teachers prepare for lessons, develop educational materials and assess students' knowledge. This will reduce time spent on preparation and administrative tasks, allowing more attention to be devoted to children.
In addition, AI training programs are planned for teachers, students and staff of educational institutions, as well as a "training of trainers" program to strengthen local specialist capacity. The parties will jointly develop methodological approaches, recommendations and frameworks for the safe, ethical and responsible use of AI in education.
It is worth noting that this is the second memorandum between the Ministry of Science and Education and OpenAI. Under the first cooperation, an adaptive learning platform was developed.
