OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has acknowledged the possibility of artificial intelligence emerging that would not be under human control. He made the statement in an interview with Fortune magazine.
"Do I believe in the possibility of creating a system that would not be under human control? Definitely. But I don't think that's something we should pursue," Altman said.
According to him, the heads of the largest US AI companies will be able to reach an agreement on regulating the pace of technological development. Altman noted that such discussions are already taking place privately.
Earlier, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei proposed that leading AI companies coordinately slow down the development of the most powerful models in order to buy time to assess potential risks. The idea was supported by Altman and American entrepreneur Elon Musk.
