Galaxy Ring can now flag breathing disruptions associated with moderate to severe sleep apnea, extending a feature Samsung previously offered on its Galaxy Watch. The update works through Samsung Health Monitor on a compatible phone, the company said on November 3.
The assessment requires two nights of usable data within a ten-day window. The updated algorithm indicates the level of breathing disruption it detects. It is intended for adults aged 18 or over who have not already been diagnosed with sleep apnea.
Samsung said the updated feature received US FDA clearance in July and regulatory approval in South Korea in October. The announcement did not give a rollout date for Azerbaijan. Readings from the ring do not replace clinical diagnosis or treatment.
