Garmin has introduced the Edge 1060 cycling computer with a microphone and speaker for voice control. Its October 20 announcement lists a US suggested retail price of $799.99.
Voice commands cover navigation and ride information. Some connected functions require a paired smartphone, and voice control is available only in selected languages.
Garmin claims up to 20 hours of battery life under demanding use, or 60 hours in battery-saving mode. These are manufacturer estimates, not independent test results.
Compatibility matters as much as the microphone itself. Buyers should check their preferred language and phone support before choosing the device. Battery-saving figures also need to be compared with equivalent operating modes, rather than another product’s normal-use battery life.
