Garmin has introduced the Descent X10, a wrist-worn dive computer with a backlit 2.1-inch screen. The company rates its rechargeable battery for up to 50 hours of diving or six months on standby. The suggested US retail price is $349.99.

Alongside depth and elapsed time, the device shows how changing depth would affect the no-decompression limit. This is the computer’s estimate of how much time remains before decompression stops would be required during ascent.

Divers can pair the unit with the Garmin Dive app to practise with a simulated dive before entering the water. A rental mode lets schools and shops set it up for a diver’s experience level and reset it before handing it to the next customer.
