Apple has announced the new generation HomePod mini 2 smart speaker at $149. The device is equipped with the S10 chip, an improved sound processing system, and support for advanced Siri features based on artificial intelligence.
The S10 chip manages dynamic range, volume, and acoustic parameters in real time. Thanks to the Sound Glow feature, the top panel of the speaker lights up and changes animation to the beat of the music. The lighting colors are selected based on the album cover, and the brightness of the glow depends on low and high frequencies.
Four HomePod mini 2 units can be combined into a surround sound system when connected to the new Apple TV 4K. The devices independently determine their position in the room and automatically adjust the sound. The speaker can also be used as a speaker for a Mac.
The updated Siri AI will become available later as part of a software update. It will require a compatible iPhone or iPad to work. The assistant will be able to recognize up to six users by voice and provide personalized information, including messages.
HomePod mini 2 supports smart home device control, as well as recognition of smoke and carbon monoxide alarm signals with notifications sent.
Sales will begin on October 30, 2026. The speaker will be available in five colors: pink, green, blue, white, and midnight. The price will be $150.
