Uzbekistan and Iran are preparing to implement 29 joint projects and hold a business forum in Tashkent amid expanding trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, the implementation issues were discussed at a meeting between Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Iran's Ambassador to Uzbekistan Mohammad Ali Eskandari on August 14.
According to the Uzbek ministry, bilateral trade volume reached $305 million in January–June 2026, up 37.5% compared to the same period last year.
Special attention during the meeting was paid to advancing 29 joint projects currently being implemented by the two countries. These projects are part of broader efforts to deepen investment cooperation and create new opportunities for businesses in Uzbekistan and Iran.
The sides also discussed preparations for the 17th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Uzbekistan and Iran, as well as the Uzbek-Iranian business forum to be held in Tashkent on November 26–27.
The upcoming commission meeting is expected to serve as a platform for reviewing current economic initiatives, identifying new areas of cooperation, and discussing issues related to trade and investment development between the countries.
The business forum, in turn, will bring together companies and investors from both states to seek new commercial partnerships and investment opportunities.
"The parties agreed to continue joint work on expanding bilateral trade and implementing new investment projects," the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan said in a statement.
The meeting took place amid Uzbekistan's efforts to strengthen economic ties with regional partners and expand investment cooperation across various sectors.
The parties confirmed their intention to continue practical cooperation, increase bilateral trade volumes, and ensure the implementation of joint projects.
