US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that countries continuing to maintain ties with Iran risk facing economic collapse. He wrote this on social media platform X.

"Any remaining ties with Tehran, whether established intentionally or maintained consciously, will accelerate the economic decline of any country," the minister wrote.

Earlier, on August 19, US President Donald Trump announced the start of an unprecedented-scale "economic war and isolation" of Iran. The American leader also warned that countries providing support to Tehran through financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government structures would face serious economic consequences from the US.
