The US administration has intensified pressure on American entrepreneur Harry Sargent, who previously helped Washington maintain relations with Venezuela. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.
According to them, on August 7, the US Treasury froze the assets of Sargent's offshore company involved in Venezuelan oil extraction projects. The company, Bluewave Properties Ltd., registered in the British Virgin Islands, holds a minority stake in North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP), the second-largest private oil producer in Venezuela after Chevron. Part of the oil that NABEP extracts in the Bolivarian Republic is processed into asphalt for road paving in the United States, Bloomberg notes.
Along with the asset freeze, the US Treasury issued a license allowing Sargent to exit the business, the agency's sources indicated.
