Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (Parliament) of Turkmenistan, and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, discussed the latest achievements in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

This was reported by the Office of the Prime Minister of Afghanistan.

The meeting took place in the city of Torghundi, Herat province, Afghanistan. Baradar welcomed Berdimuhamedov and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the TAPI project in Herat.

The parties discussed the latest achievements in the implementation of the TAPI project and future joint economic activities between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.

"Baradar noted that the work on the project in Herat is progressing successfully and expressed hope for the completion of the remaining work within the set timeframe.

In turn, Berdimuhamedov stated that Turkmenistan is ready to extend the TAPI gas pipeline to Herat province. The parties also discussed further economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan," the statement said.
