The operation of Tajikistan's energy system will return to normal operation in the near future after a blackout in Dushanbe and a number of other cities and districts of the country, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the country reported. At the same time, the ministry denied the spread information that the cause of the massive outage was allegedly an accident at the Nurek HPP.
"Information about an alleged accident at the Nurek HPP has no basis," the ministry emphasized.
"Currently, restoration work in the energy system continues in an intensified mode. All necessary measures are being taken to quickly restore its normal operation. The energy system will be returned to normal operation in the near future," the ministry's statement said.
To determine the causes of the blackout, an interdepartmental working group has been created, which should comprehensively study the circumstances of the failure. After the inspection is completed, the causes of the emergency situation will be established and the results of the investigation will be presented.
The publication reported that on the afternoon of August 14, mass power outages were recorded in Central Asian countries. The outages affected Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.
