The Shah Deniz Consortium has signed a major contract with Emerson for the supply of systems required for automated operations under the Shah Deniz Compression project.
According to information published on bp's website, the new contract provides for the supply of integrated control and safety systems for remote control of the Shah Deniz Compression platform, including process control, emergency shutdown, fire and gas detection, and power management systems.
"Collectively, these systems will enable real-time monitoring and remote control of key platform operations, contributing to enhanced safety, reliability, and operational efficiency, reduced operating costs, and ensuring long-term performance," the company said.
According to bp, Ilgar Mammadov, bp's project general manager, said the signing of this contract is an important step in the implementation of the Shah Deniz Compression project: "The automation and control systems will become one of the key components of the Shah Deniz Compression platform, which will operate as an unmanned installation, and will ensure its safe and efficient operation throughout its entire service life."
He stated that the signing of this important contract comes during a period of active progress on the project: "Currently, about 30% of the total scope of work has been completed, and approximately 2,700 people are engaged in the project. Engineering and construction activities across various project areas are progressing according to plan. At the same time, local resources, expertise, and industrial capabilities of Azerbaijan are being widely utilized."
It is noted that the Shah Deniz Compression project will play an important role in maximizing gas production from the Shah Deniz field and will contribute to ensuring long-term production sustainability by providing access to additional gas reserves.
