Russian President Vladimir Putin met on Wednesday in St. Petersburg with Steve Witkoff, special envoy of the US president. During the talks, the Russian leader noted his interest in resuming economic interaction between the two countries.
"It would be interesting for both sides to discuss issues related to our plans for restoring bilateral relations, Russian-American contacts, including in the sphere of economic cooperation," Putin was quoted as saying by Russian media.
Putin thus signaled readiness to discuss steps toward normalizing relations, including the economic dimension.
