According to the statistical bulletin of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), as of the end of July, the number of payment cards in circulation through the banking system and Azerpost LLC reached 22.785 million cards.
Calculations based on CBA data show that this figure increased by 8.9% compared to the same period last year. The number of debit cards increased by 10.5%, while the number of credit cards decreased by 4.6%.
The bank noted: "Since the beginning of the year, the volume of cashless transactions within the country has increased by 13.9% compared to the same period last year. In July 2026, the volume of cashless payments within the country made via cards amounted to 9.712 billion manats. Of the total volume of cashless payments, 8.455 billion manats were attributed to e-commerce, 1.255 billion manats to POS terminals, and 2 million manats to operations via self-service terminals and ATMs. Since the beginning of the year, the volume of cashless domestic transactions using payment cards accounted for 69.8% of the total volume of domestic card transactions."
