As of July 1 of this year, the number of employees in Azerbaijan amounted to 1,787,400 people, which is 0.9% more in annual terms. This was reported by the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.
According to the data, 844,600 people (2.3% less) worked in the state sector, and 942,800 people (4% more) in the non-state sector.
Of the total employees, 18.8% were employed in trade and repair of vehicles, 17.8% in education, 13.9% in industry, 8.6% in health and social services, 6.7% in construction, 6.1% in public administration and defense; social security, 4.4% in transport and storage, 3.9% in professional, scientific and technical activities, 2.4% in financial and insurance activities, 2.3% in agriculture, forestry and fishing, and 15.1% in other sectors of the economy.
