The National Payment Card System (NSPK) has warned of possible difficulties when paying for purchases online with cards of international payment systems Visa and Mastercard after security certificate updates. This was reported on August 10 by RIA Novosti, citing a company statement.
"Difficulties may arise when paying for purchases online with cards of international payment systems that left Russia in 2022," the NSPK statement said.
The company recommended that users replace such cards with cards of the national payment system Mir. At the same time, existing Mir cards will retain their current operating procedure and will remain available for paying for goods and services both online and at regular retail outlets.
Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, said on August 8 that Russian banks will expand the list of criteria for suspending money transfers starting March 1. It is noted that if malicious software is detected on a client's device, payments will be blocked.
