Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Rovshan Najaf, President of Azerbaijan's State Oil Company (SOCAR), and Giovanni Cristofoli, BP's Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The news was reported by FinFly, citing the Uzbek president's press service.
Najaf and Cristofoli visited Uzbekistan to attend a meeting of the Investment Council for the Fuel and Energy Sector.
During the meeting, the successful cooperation between Uzbekistan and these leading energy companies was noted with satisfaction.
"Further practical measures for the development of hydrocarbon fields on the Ustyurt Plateau were discussed. The accession of British Petroleum to this large-scale project was highly praised. The importance of advancing new projects in the oil and gas sector, establishing long-term supplies and developing a sales network for oil and petroleum products was emphasized," the statement said.
