Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut stated that compliance with rules and the creation of a clear algorithm for safe shipment of goods will help restore imports of Armenian products to previous levels. She said this on August 13 during a meeting with Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan.
"Ensuring the safety of agricultural products, including the use of own raw materials by Armenian producers, control over pesticides, traceability of supplies, and other mandatory requirements is the most important condition for resuming imports of goods currently subject to restrictions," the ministry's website reported.
According to Lut, the key condition for lifting restrictions is strict compliance by Armenian producers with EAEU veterinary and phytosanitary standards. Priority is given to the safety of agricultural products, including raw material control, pesticide monitoring, and the implementation of supply traceability systems.
Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said on July 30 that Russia can easily replace supplies of goods from Armenia. As the minister reminded, Yerevan has been a member of the Eurasian Economic Union since 2015. Since then, its goods can freely enter the markets of the member countries if they meet its requirements and norms. It is this membership, according to the head of the Russian ministry, that allows the Armenian side to sell over 80% of its produced goods.
