Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) intends to cut around 4,000 jobs in the UK.
The largest British carmaker, owned by Indian conglomerate Tata, plans to reduce its workforce in the country by approximately 4,000 employees. Currently, about 34,000 people work at the company's UK divisions.
The measure is part of a program to cut costs by £1.7 billion ($2.3 billion). The company explained the need for the cuts due to difficulties in the automotive market, tariff wars initiated by US President Donald Trump, and the aftermath of a cyberattack that halted operations at JLR plants.
The job reduction program is expected to be implemented over two years.
