Iraq is discussing an increase in its oil quota with OPEC, Oil Minister Basem Mohammed Khudair said. Additional revenue would support infrastructure development and government programmes, he said.
The statement sets out Baghdad’s negotiating position. It does not establish a newly agreed volume of supply to the global market.
What determines the impact
Potential revenue depends on permitted production, actual deliveries and realised prices. Higher physical volumes do not produce a fixed revenue increase because oil prices can change.
The next significant market reference is a published agreement and implementation schedule. Production capacity, actual output and exports are distinct measures and cannot be substituted for one another when assessing supply.
