France will stop trading with Israeli settlements in the West Bank, joining 11 other countries in this measure. The announcement was made by French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot on social media platform X.
Barrot stressed that the current situation would only lead to further escalation in relations between Israel and Palestine.
"No lasting peace in the Middle East is possible without strict security guarantees for Israel... France cannot, through its trade, support a situation that threatens the security of both Israelis and Palestinians, as well as peace and stability in the region. Europe must adhere to the same requirement," Barrot emphasized.
