Chirag’s cumulative production reached 107.8 million tonnes of oil and 25 billion cubic metres of gas by November 1, 2026, according to Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry.

BP-Azerbaijan’s figures put average daily oil production at 18,800 barrels during January-September 2026.

Two different measures

The historical total aggregates output over a long period. The daily figure measures production intensity in a specific reporting interval. Comparing them does not establish a growth or decline rate; that requires matching periods across different years.

Operating costs, investment and equipment reliability also matter when assessing a mature platform’s economic role. A large cumulative total establishes its production contribution, not its current profitability.
