Azerbaijan plans to commission two new green energy corridors from 2032. This was stated by Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov during his speech at the 'Baku Climate Action Week 2026' (BCAW 2026).
According to him, one of the strategic priorities is to bring green energy to international markets through regional and interregional communications:
'The feasibility study of the 'Caspian - Black Sea - Europe Green Energy Corridor' with a total capacity of 3,900 megawatts has confirmed the project's viability. From 2032, both the first phase of this corridor and the 'Central Asia - Azerbaijan Green Energy Link' are expected to be commissioned.'
The minister said that concrete steps are being taken to develop new green energy corridors to Turkey and Europe via Georgia, the Zangezur corridor, and Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan region:
'The diversified energy connections we are developing will contribute to strengthening interregional energy security and reducing emissions across a vast area beyond Azerbaijan.'
He noted that ahead of COP31, which will be hosted by Turkey, with the transition to clean energy and electrification among the main priorities, Azerbaijan will continue to build on the legacy of COP29 and turn the energy transition agenda into concrete projects, regional connections, and real emission reduction measures:
'We believe that the energy system of the future should be not only greener, but also more secure, flexible, and resilient.'
