Azerbaijan’s government debt stood at AZN 23.8963 billion on 1 October 2026, equivalent to 17.3% of projected annual GDP. Trend reported the Finance Ministry figures on 28 October.
Domestic debt was AZN 16.2301 billion. External debt totalled AZN 7.6662 billion, or $4.5095 billion, down $304 million since January. Domestic liabilities declined AZN 1.5744 billion over the same period.
Strategic foreign-exchange reserves were reported at $89.4 billion, around 19.8 times external government debt. That comparison does not cover all public liabilities. The debt-to-GDP ratio uses the full-year economic forecast rather than an already completed annual GDP figure.
