Domestic freight operators in Azerbaijan could receive the right to use an 8% simplified tax regime for five years. State Tax Service head Orkhan Nazarli presented the proposal, the service's Vergilər publication reported on November 6.
The option would provide an alternative method of taxing income. Nazarli said it resulted from discussions with businesses.
Proposed coverage
The announcement specifically concerns freight transport within Azerbaijan. It does not establish this rate for international transport.
An optional regime does not mean every operator would have to switch. The measure remains a proposal; detailed transition rules and a starting date were not stated.
