In Azerbaijan, in January-August 2026, the volume of cash foreign currency purchases exceeded the volume of its sales by $673 million. This was reported by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Positive dynamics were observed in both the cash and non-cash segments of the foreign exchange market.

Furthermore, the dollarization level of deposits of resident individuals decreased by 3.7 percentage points over the past 12 months and stood at 25.8% in August.

Amid a significant decline in demand in the foreign exchange market and a considerable increase in supply, the CBA conducted interventions to purchase foreign currency. As a result, over the past period of this year, the regulator's foreign exchange reserves increased by 32.9%, reaching $15.3 billion.
