Customs preferences and exemptions in Azerbaijan amount to about AZN 3 billion a year, Chamber of Accounts Chairman Vugar Gulmammadov told a parliamentary budget hearing, according to local media reports.

Projected collections through the State Customs Committee stand at AZN 6.868 billion for 2027, against a target of AZN 6.862 billion this year. The import value assumed in the projections is AZN 32.2 billion.

The committee’s official revenue breakdown includes VAT, excise and road tax as well as customs duties. The estimate for relief is not a forecast of how much extra revenue abolishing exemptions would generate.
