Azerbaijan's state budget for 2027 allocates about 9 billion manats for military and security issues. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP).
The head of state pointed to the increase in the number and scale of wars: "The spaces around us are ablaze, boiling. Wars do not stop; on the contrary, new hotbeds of wars and conflicts are emerging – both in the north and in the south, and in the Middle East. That is, wars and clashes continue along the entire perimeter around us, and there are no international mechanisms to stop these wars – and, most likely, there will not be."
Ilham Aliyev emphasized that international law has completely ceased to function, and the number of those who attach importance to it is sharply declining.
"Therefore, every day we must be ready to respond to any military provocation. We must possess such strength – and we are achieving this – so that no one would even think of staging any provocation against Azerbaijan. So this is a paramount task, and it is no coincidence that in the state budget being discussed today, the budget for next year, military and security issues are again at the forefront, and about 9 billion manats are envisaged for these purposes. Naturally, we have other needs as well – primarily the restoration of Karabakh and East Zangezur, improving people's social situation. We are doing this too, all of this is provided for in the budget under discussion. However, if we cannot protect ourselves, then any other project of ours will be completely meaningless," the president added.
