At its meeting on September 15, 2026, the Board of the Central Bank of Armenia decided to raise the key rate by 25 basis points, setting it at 6.75%. This was announced in the regulator's official press release.
At the same time, the parameters of other monetary policy instruments were revised. The lombard repo rate was set at 8.25%, and the deposit instrument rate at 5.25%. As a result, the interest rate corridor of the Central Bank of Armenia shifted upward.
According to the statement, details of the decision are set out in the monetary policy statement. A press conference led by the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia, Martin Galstyan, was scheduled for the same day at 14:00, with a broadcast on the regulator's YouTube channel and Facebook page. The monetary policy report and the transparency report were planned for publication at 18:00 on the Central Bank's website.
The rate hike means a rise in the cost of money in Armenia's economy, which could affect the cost of loans and deposits. However, the specific consequences for borrowers and depositors are not disclosed in the press release.
