Azerbaijan aims to increase aquaculture production to 7,700 tonnes by 2030 from approximately 3,400 tonnes, Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov said at a regional forum in Baku, according to the ministry.

The target implies an increase of about 4,300 tonnes, or roughly 2.3 times the current level. Sector development is covered by the 2026-2030 state programme.

Discussions include improving support mechanisms and conditions for investment in farms. Announcing a target does not establish that every support measure is already operational. Aquaculture means farming aquatic organisms under controlled conditions and is separate from aggregate wild-catch fishing statistics.
