Bitcoin on Wednesday showed its fastest growth rate since March, as investors awaited a meeting between US President Donald Trump and representatives of the cryptocurrency industry.

According to CoinDesk, by 19:13 Moscow time, the cryptocurrency had risen 6.1% to trade at $68,517, the highest level since early June.

Trump is expected to hold a meeting on Wednesday with executives from Coinbase Global, Payward Inc., and Blockchain.com. The president has repeatedly expressed his intention to support the cryptocurrency sector by creating a favorable regulatory framework. However, the passage of a comprehensive digital assets bill, known as the Clarity Act, has stalled in Congress due to disputes between Republicans and Democrats.

Earlier this week, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposed not to extend the requirement for securities registration to certain digital asset offerings. The commission believes that the exemption will help companies raise financing at early stages of their operations.
