The Embassy of the Netherlands has thanked Azerbaijan for rescuing its citizen who was injured in Sheki. This is stated in a post published on the embassy's account on social media platform X.
"We express our appreciation to the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan for the rescue and provision of urgent medical assistance to a Dutch citizen who was injured on August 29 during a hike in the mountainous area of Sheki. Special thanks go to the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan for conducting an emergency rescue operation in difficult mountainous terrain and in darkness, for the prompt helicopter evacuation, and for providing first aid at the scene," the post reads.
On August 29, in the mountainous area near the village of Bash Zeyzid in the Sheki district, a Dutch citizen who had been attacked by dogs and sustained severe injuries was rescued by officers of the State Border Service. The victim received first aid at the scene and was then airlifted by helicopter to the Sheki District Central Hospital, where an emergency operation was performed. The rescue operation was carried out at an altitude of two thousand meters above sea level, in darkness and difficult mountain terrain.
