Mastercard, one of the world's leading payment technology companies, has announced a new leadership appointment in the Eastern Europe region. Avshar Gurdal, who previously served as General Manager for Mastercard in Turkey and Azerbaijan, and later as Senior Vice President for Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, Risk, and Analytics in the Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EEMEA) region, will assume the role of President for Mastercard in Eastern Europe on September 1.

In his new role, Gurdal will be responsible for shaping and implementing Mastercard's business strategy in Eastern Europe, executing regional growth priorities, strengthening relationships with clients and business partners, and expanding the use of innovative solutions in the payment technology ecosystem.

During his tenure as General Manager for Mastercard in Turkey and Azerbaijan, Gurdal contributed to the implementation of the company's strategic priorities in both markets, the wider adoption of digital payment solutions, and the development of the cashless payment ecosystem in Azerbaijan. Drawing on experience gained in various leadership positions at Mastercard, in his new role Gurdal will focus on further developing the company's business in the dynamic and fast-growing markets of Eastern Europe.
