The criminal prosecution of Russian singer Navai (Navai Bakirov) in Kazakhstan has been closed, the press service of the police department of the Zhambyl region reported. The artist was detained in mid-October on suspicion of drug smuggling.
"The criminal case against the Russian rap artist has been closed on non-exonerating grounds, taking into account that he committed the offense for the first time and actively repented, in accordance with the requirements of criminal procedure legislation," the statement said. "The procedural decision has been approved by the supervisory authority."
Bakirov has been deported from Kazakhstan.
