Esmail Baghaei, the official representative of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on his X account that the anti-Iranian sanctions imposed by the United States cannot weaken the Islamic republic.
"US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent boasted of 'strangling' Iran through economic sanctions. This statement is clear evidence of Washington's compulsive dependence on sanctions. The US resorts to sanctions, and when these restrictions do not yield results, it simply increases the dose," Baghaei said.
On August 7, Bessent wrote on X that Iran relies on digital assets and shadow banking networks, which the US intends to destroy with the sanctions it imposes. The US Treasury Secretary stated the effectiveness of the measures taken under Operation "Economic Fury" and plans to increase economic pressure on Iran.
"Economic Fury" is a US campaign against Iran aimed at zeroing out Iranian oil exports, halting financial inflows, and countering covert transit networks and airlines.
