Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has threatened to destroy Iranian tankers if attacks continue.
Pete Hegseth stated that US armed forces are capable of striking the entire Iranian tanker fleet and sinking it if Iran continues to attack US Navy ships in the region.
After the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday that it had struck three Iranian tankers in response to attacks on American warships, Hegseth wrote on social media: "If Iran opens fire on American ships, we will destroy their tankers. All they need to do is not open fire on the US Navy."
