The State Border Service (SBS) has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 55 kg 105 g of narcotic substances and 1,000 psychotropic pills of Methadone M-40 from Iran into Azerbaijan in the area of the Goradiz border detachment of the Border Troops.
This was reported by the SBS press center.
During border search and operational measures, on August 21, an Azerbaijani citizen was detained while attempting to bring 26 kg 5 g of narcotic substances and 1,000 units of Methadone M-40 psychotropic pills into the country. On August 22, three more Azerbaijani citizens were detained while attempting to smuggle 29 kg 100 g of narcotic substances into the republic.
Operational and investigative measures are ongoing.
