In the second quarter of 2026, Azerbaijan recorded 5,305 cases of payment card fraud totaling 1,074,526 manats. This was reported by FinFly.News citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

During the reporting period, the value of payment card fraud cases abroad decreased by 11% to 289,423 manats, while their number dropped by 39.7% to 3,633.

In Q2, 33.9% of domestic fraud was related to account takeover (up 12.5 percentage points), while 66.1% was attributed to other cases (down 12.5 percentage points). Among fraud cases abroad, 45.9% were related to card-not-present transactions (down 14.3 percentage points), and 54.1% were other cases (up 14.3 percentage points).

In April-June, 93.1% (down 5.2 percentage points) of domestic fraud was committed through e-commerce and mobile apps, while 6.9% (up 5.2 percentage points) was through other methods. Among fraud cases abroad, 92.8% (up 12.2 percentage points) were committed through e-commerce and mobile apps, and 7.2% (down 12.2 percentage points) were through other methods.
