A meeting took place between the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA, Jasurbek Ergashevich Choriev, and the Chairman of the Management Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ), Valeh Alasgarov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for establishing practical cooperation between the TRACECA Permanent Secretariat and the AFEZ Administration, as well as the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation that would define the main areas of joint work.
Special attention was paid to the exchange of information and data between the two structures. The parties considered the possibility of establishing regular exchange of information on the type and nature of cargo traveling along the TRACECA route, which would increase the transparency of cargo flows, more accurately assess the corridor's potential, and formulate more substantiated proposals for cargo owners, carriers, and investors.
The Secretary General presented TRACECA initiatives aimed at developing the Europe-Caucasus-Asia corridor, as well as the Secretariat's efforts to simplify transport procedures and promote multimodal transportation. In particular, it was noted that TRACECA member countries are consistently working on the Basic Provisions on the TRACECA Business Council, which is intended to become a platform for involving the private sector in implementing projects along the corridor route, as well as on the TRACECA Corporate Partnership Program.
In turn, Valeh Alasgarov informed about the progress of the Alat Free Economic Zone's development and its opportunities for investors and participants in the transport and logistics market.
Following the exchange of views, the parties noted the commonality of approaches to developing the region's transport and logistics potential.
