Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for the Middle Corridor to be considered as the foundation of an emerging system of economic ties between Europe and Central Asia.
As reported by FinFly, the Kazakh president wrote this in his article for Euronews ahead of his visit to Brussels.
According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan is developing the Middle Corridor between Europe and Asia in line with the EU's Global Gateway initiative. At the same time, the route should not be perceived merely as a transport artery for accelerated cargo delivery.
"The Middle Corridor is better understood as the foundation of an emerging system linking European markets and economic centers with Central Asia's resources, its developing industrial base, and logistics potential," the president noted.
Tokayev emphasized that genuine interconnectivity promotes market integration, stimulates investment, supports entrepreneurship, and brings societies closer together.
In his view, transport routes, like the historical Silk Road, have always been strategic arteries, and leveraging geographical advantages allows for creating new opportunities for economic growth and productivity enhancement.
It is worth noting that on June 22-23, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay an official visit to Brussels at the invitation of European Council President António Costa.
