Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Abdurakhmonzoda Abdurakhmon Safarali, held a meeting with the chairman of the Tajikistan-Turkey Business Council, Rushen Chetin, during which prospects for expanding bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation were discussed.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the parties considered issues of attracting investments and strengthening direct ties between the business communities of the two countries.
The minister noted that thanks to the policies of the presidents of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, bilateral trade and economic cooperation is consistently developing.
According to official data, trade turnover between Tajikistan and Turkey in 2024 amounted to $445.8 million, an increase of 22.8% compared to 2023. Tajikistan's exports reached $239.1 million, while imports from Turkey totaled $206.7 million.
Turkey is Tajikistan's fourth largest export partner. From 2007 to 2024, over $285 million in Turkish capital was attracted to the republic's economy, including $151.6 million in direct foreign investment.
During the meeting, the Tajik side presented opportunities for creating joint industrial enterprises and implementing investment projects in the republic's free economic zones. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the textile industry, agricultural processing, production of construction materials, pharmaceuticals, and the introduction of modern technologies.
Following the talks, the parties confirmed their interest in further expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
